What we collect
Your account
- Your email address and a password (stored by our sign-in provider; we never see your password), or, if you sign in with Google, the name, email address, and profile picture Google shares with us. We use your email to sign you in and, only if you ask, to send you updates.
- The display name you choose. It is how other people see you in rooms, set lists, and Friends.
- Account dates and choices: when you signed up, when you last signed in and last used BandCue, that you accepted our Terms and which version, and whether you want update emails.
What you create
Tab and notation files you upload, song details, sync timings, lyrics, set lists, favourites, tabs you are writing in the Tab Creator (saved as drafts on your account), and anything you send us — such as a moderation report or a copyright notice.
Using rooms and Friends
- In a rehearsal room: your display name, the instrument you picked, whether you're ready, when you were last connected, and timing numbers from your device that keep you in sync with the band (how far your playback is from the room, how quickly your device starts playing, your audio offset setting, and whether you've muted your audio).
- Friends: who your friends are, friend requests, and anyone you block — and, while you're signed in, whether you're online and (depending on your room's setting) which room and song you're in.
Usage and device information
- Analytics. We use Google Analytics to count things like sign-ups, rooms opened, and uploads, so we know what is working. It records events tied to a random identifier, along with general information about your browser, device, and approximate location that Google derives from your connection.
- Security. We use Google's reCAPTCHA (through Firebase App Check) to confirm requests come from the real BandCue app and not from automated abuse. It looks at information about your browser and how the page is used. reCAPTCHA is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
- Stored on your device. Your browser keeps you signed in and remembers a few settings on your device, such as your audio offset and how quickly your device starts playing. Google Analytics and reCAPTCHA may also set cookies.
We do not collect payment information — BandCue has nothing to pay for — and we don't ask for your real name, address, phone number, or location.
How we use it
- To run BandCue: your account, your library, rooms, Friends, and keeping everyone's playback in time.
- To keep it safe: preventing abuse, investigating reports, and acting on copyright notices.
- To understand and improve it: counts of how the app is used.
- To email you only if you opted in to BandCue updates, plus messages you need, such as a password reset you asked for.
- To comply with the law and enforce our Terms.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Who can see what
Other people with BandCue accounts can see your display name, and whether you are one of BandCue's administrators. Everything else on your account — your email address, when you signed up, your Terms acceptance, and your email choice — is visible only to you and to BandCue administrators.
- People in a room with you see your display name, instrument, and whether you're ready. The room's leader also sees your timing numbers, so they can tell when someone's out of sync. Anything loaded in the room — including a private song — is visible to everyone in it.
- Your friends see whether you're online and, if your room's setting allows, which room and song you're in. Anyone signed in can look you up by your display name to send a friend request.
- Public content — songs and set lists you choose to make public — is visible to everyone signed in, with your display name. Private content is visible only as described in our Terms.
- BandCue administrators can see account details (email address, sign-up date, when each account last signed in or used BandCue, whether it has accepted the current Terms and Privacy Policy, and its email choice), and can open content when acting on a moderation report or a copyright notice.
- Service providers that run parts of BandCue for us, listed in the next section.
- Authorities, if the law requires it or to protect someone's safety or rights.
- A buyer or successor, if BandCue LLC is ever reorganized or sold; this policy would continue to apply to your information.
Services that help run BandCue
- Google Firebase — sign-in, our databases, file storage, server functions, hosting, Google Analytics, and App Check (with reCAPTCHA).
- YouTube — plays the recordings in rooms and the editors. When a video loads, YouTube receives your IP address and may set cookies under Google's Privacy Policy.
- jsDelivr — delivers the notation engine that draws your tab and the instrument sounds used by Synth, which means it receives your IP address when they load.
- Google Sign-In, if you choose to sign in with Google.
Update emails are sent from our own email account; we don't use a mailing-list service. Your information is stored on Google's servers in the United States.
How long we keep it
- Your account and content stay until you delete them or delete your account. When you delete your account, you choose whether your public songs are deleted too; if you keep them, they stay in the library shown as uploaded by "Deleted account", with nothing linking them to you.
- Room data — your place in a room and your timing numbers — is removed when you leave, and the room is deleted when its last member leaves.
- Drafts stay on your account until you delete them.
- Analytics data is kept for 14 months.
- Records we need to keep — such as copyright complaints, moderation decisions, and your Terms acceptance — may be kept as long as needed to comply with the law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
Your choices and rights
- Update emails: turn off "Email me BandCue updates" in your Profile, visit bandcue.app/unsubscribe, or reply "unsubscribe" to any update email.
- Your content: edit it, switch it between public and private, or delete it at any time.
- Your display name: change it in your Profile.
- Delete your account: in your Profile, choose Delete account. This deletes your profile, set lists, favourites, drafts, friends, and your private songs and their files, and you choose whether your public songs go too. It can't be undone.
- Access and correction: email team@bandcue.app from the address on your account to get a copy of your information or correct it, or if you'd rather we delete your account for you. We'll respond within 30 days.
- Cookies: you can block or clear them in your browser. BandCue needs your browser's storage to keep you signed in.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law — for example in California or in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom — including the right to object to or restrict some uses, and to complain to a data-protection authority. We honour these requests wherever you live. We don't respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals, because there is no common standard for them.
Children
BandCue is not for children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to create an account. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We protect your information with access rules that limit who can read each piece of data, encrypted connections, and checks that requests come from the real app. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but if we learn of a breach that affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.
Where your information goes
BandCue is run from the United States. If you use it from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States, where data-protection law may differ from where you live.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If a change is material, we'll give reasonable notice — for example in the app or by updating the date above — before it takes effect.
